The IBEW New England Local and Regional Bargaining Committees and CWA District 1, IBEW Local 2213 resumed negotiations with Verizon at the Ryetown Hilton in Rye, NY today. The committees presented additional union proposals. The committees also pressed the company for answers on questions from previous session. The company will be providing some of those answers tomorrow. The Company has not responded to any of our proposals at the Regional table. Discussions will resume tomorrow.
The System Council T6 continued discussions with the Company into the evening focusing on Local issues pertaining to the New England contract. Local bargaining will continue every day after the Regional table adjourns. The Council is continually pushing the Company to provide data pertaining to the Companies proposals. They have stated that their proposals focus on cost savings and we are demanding the information that supports their claims.
The July 30th, 2011 rally at Verizon Headquarters at 140 West St in NY City will begin at 11 AM. Members from all areas of the Verizon footprint will be joining us in the fight to protect our wages, benefits and working conditions. Every member from every Local should be at this Rally to send a message to Verizon. Continue all Mobilization activities and remember Management is not your friend. They are currently looking to strip you of all your rights. Stand up and Fight and let them know we will not let this happen!!
