Regional Bargaining Report # 54
Monday, November 21, 2011
IBEW New England and CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 Regional Bargaining Team met with the Company this past week in separate sub-committees focusing on topics such as healthcare, call-sharing, jobs and absence. These smaller forums have given us the opportunity to speak off the record and focus specifically on each topic. This process has also allowed for simultaneous and more frequent meetings. These discussions will hopefully allow future proposals to be more productive for both sides.
We understand that there is a sense of urgency among some members. There are many issues on the table for both sides and a lot of information to go over and questions to be asked. We know that this is a stressful time, but the bargaining teams are leaving no stone un-turned. We will continue to bargain as long as it takes to achieve a fair contract. All members are working under an extended contract and are afforded all the same benefits that were in place prior to August 7th.
The bargaining teams and the Company will break for the Thanksgiving Holiday and will resume talks in the morning on Monday November 28th.
Remember to bring in the DVD’s that the Company so graciously sent to your homes. These DVD’s are an illegal attempt to bargain directly with the membership. It is a 9 minute video explaining that the Company is offering wonderful benefits and preserving the “middle class” This is more propaganda for the trash and another example of waste at this greedy corporation. Give your DVD’s to a Steward or this office. We will make sure that they are cared for in the proper way.
The Fight is not OVER!!
Remember to wear RED!!!
Fraternally,
Dave Keating
