Regional Bargaining Report # 58
Thursday January 19, 2012
IBEW New England and CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 Regional Committees continued bargaining this week in Rye NY. The Union received a counter-proposal from the Company on call-sharing. The committee evaluated the proposal and met with the Company to ask questions and request more data. We are currently meeting as a group, working on a response to the Companies proposal on call sharing. The goal is to create and protect work. We can do this by eliminating and controlling the amount of work that is sent to a vendor. The Union’s proposal achieves this goal and we will continue to fight until we can agree on a fair solution.
Currently we are waiting for a response from the Company on last week’s jobs proposal by the Union. They are assessing our current proposal and will have a counter shortly. The bargaining team has also been working on a counter-proposal on healthcare. We have received the information that we were waiting for from our research team in Washington and will be finalizing our next proposal.
We are scheduled to meet with the Company in the morning and return on Monday to continue discussions next week.
Every IBEW/CWA member in every District and Local across this country must continue to fight Verizon and Corporate Greed. Every member must continue to spread the word that Verizon must not be allowed to lower the standard of living by stripping the benefits of their employees. Middle Income families in America will continue to decline if profitable companies like Verizon put Greed before their employees.
It’s time to fight back!
Remember to wear RED!!!
Fraternally,
Dave Keating
