Regional Bargaining Report # 61
Friday, March 23, 2012
The IBEW New England and CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 Regional Committees and the CWA District 2-13/ IBEW Mid Atlantic Regional Committees
Met in Rye N.Y. this past week. The North Bargaining Committee engaged in some off the record discussions with the Company regarding their latest Call-Sharing proposal. There are still a few problems with the Companies latest Call-Sharing proposal but these discussions allowed both sides to express their concerns. This proposal has made some progress but the Union’s counter will address the remaining issues. Call-Sharing is one of the most detailed and job affecting issues on the table. The Bargaining Team has spent many months collecting data and fine tuning our proposals. This topic addresses many of our members throughout the entire footprint and will be the guide for call center work through this next contract. Technology allows for calls to be handled without geographic boundaries. We are working our proposals to protect the work of our inside forces for the future.
The Union will continue to work on counter proposals on Healthcare, Absence and Jobs. On the record sub-committee meetings have also taken place in these areas as well.
The IBEW and CWA Bargaining Teams will return to N.Y. next week to continue meeting with the Company and work towards an agreement. It has been very clear that the Company continues to take a hardline with all of their proposals. We will continue this fight and work to address our issues as well. If their plan is to outlast us, then they better go back to the drawing board. We will continue bargaining until a fair agreement is reached.
Remember that this fight is far from over. Stay United, Stay Strong and do not listen to rumors. Participate in your own survival and mobilize!!!
Remember to wear RED!!!
Mobilize! – Mobilize! – Mobilize!
Fraternally,
Dave Keating
