Regional Bargaining Report # 63
Monday, April 16, 2012
The IBEW New England System Council T6 and CWA District 1/IBEW Local 2213 Regional Bargaining Committee re-convened at the Rye Town Hilton in New York this afternoon. The bargaining committee met to discuss and evaluate their positions on the many proposals that are still on the table.
The committee continues to work on a counter proposal in call-sharing. The last call sharing proposal by the company, addressed some of our concerns but was still well short of a potential agreement. The call sharing proposal is a very crucial part of an overall comprehensive agreement. These proposals involve many centers and job titles. The work done on this proposal will guarantee volumes, limit vendors and provide new job openings. Technology is not helping our inside forces and we are working to secure work for our centers.
The bargaining committee will also evaluate the last proposal presented to us on Pensions, 401K and the discretionary bonus. These are very crucial proposals that must be dealt with carefully. At our last meeting with the Company we requested information pertaining to this proposal. When we receive that information we will begin to address a counter proposal.
We will remain at the bargaining table for as long as it takes. We have fought for our benefits for over 50 years and we will continue our fight for them now. Your bargaining team will not stop until we reach a fair agreement for today and the future. Stay Strong and Stay United.
Verizon’s Annual Shareholders Meeting is Thursday May 3, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Von Braun Center, 700 Monroe Street, Huntsville, Alabama. Your admission ticket and proxy card was recently mailed to all our members who are shareholders. We are asking all of our members to vote your proxy, sign and date your card and return it to your Local. The Shareholder’s Meeting is a Thursday and there will be a “sea of red” IBEW and CWA members who are also shareholders who will deliver these proxies and our message to that meeting.
Mobilize! – Mobilize! – Mobilize!
Fraternally,
